Some of the top insurance companies offering health insurance for the self employed in Texas include: 1. Blue Cross Blue Shield 2. UniCare 3. United Healthcare Stay away from NASE (National Association of the Self Employed) as they are affiliated with the Mega Life & Health Insurance Company and have a history of receiving a lot of customer complaints (do a Google search or Yahoo search for Mega Life and you can read some of the customer complaints even on the first couple of pages of the results). Here are some specific things to consider when looking for self employed health insurance and specifically some information about health insurance in Texas: http://www.healthquote360.com/Individual_Health_Insurance/Self_Employed_Health_Insurance.php http://www.TexasHealthInsurance360.com

Find another job with health insurance. Or stay where you are and deal with not having insurance. Your choice. As things currently stand, company-paid health insurance coverage is an employee BENEFIT, not a right. That means that employers can offer it to their employees as part of their employees' compensation -- as an incentive to get employees to come work for them or to stay with them -- but they're not obligated to do so if they don't want to or can't afford to. FWIW, group health insurance premiums have been skyrocketing in recent years, and a lot of companies have found themselves either cutting back on the level of insurance coverage offered, or requiring employees to pay a larger share of the premiums through payroll deductions, or as a last resort, have dropped health insurance altogether. For a lot of small companies on a tight budget, it means the difference between turning a profit, or at least breaking even, vs losing money -- this is true whether your employer is a Middle Easterner turned U.S. citizen, or someone whose ancestors came over on the Mayflower -- times are tough out there, that's for sure. Unless you have an employment contract, promising you health insurance coverage and a $10,000 raise after your 90 day review IN WRITING, there's not much you can do. Except be grateful that for now at least you have a job and a steady paycheck, and keep looking for something better with health insurance.

I suggest that you visit this web page where you can compare rates from different companies: http://PROTECTIONQUOTES.NET/index.html?s... RE :How can companies get away without providing health insurance .? When I was hired at my company I was told " We are searching for a better health insurance". After a year I asked why there is no health insurance. I was told its too expensive. I was also told in the interview , my pay would increase by 10,000 dollars after a 90 day review. Still no increase. The economy is really bad and there are no jobs out there but i feel like my employer is playing the "poor-man " game. I work for an engineering consulting company..Owned by a foreigner from the middle east turned american citizen . When I called the labor board they told me "theres nothing we can do if they don't want to pay health insurance"..........bla-blah blah... What do i do ? Follow 3 answers

Once upon a time there was unions and real unions at that .. They made employers pay benefits or you didn't do business with a union company .. Now that the union and the government are partners and the unions are just as or more corrupt than the government the working man has nobody to turn to.. Kinda like one mouse asking the cat to make the other mouse let him eat ..

The us spends twice as much per capita on wellness care than every other nation, but its residents have the shortest existence expectancy within the developed world. Britain, France, Sweden, New Zealand and all other developed nations have govt managed health care and their populations out survive americans do. The united states will pay extra, gets much less, and is not going to admit that coverage companies are the concern, not the solution.
