Wal-Mart and The Bush Labor Department. Who Looks Out For The Little Guy?

Wal-Mart and The Bush Labor Department. Who Looks Out For The Little Guy? Topic: How to write a check with cents examples

Question: The government? The corporations? The unions? Who? An excerpt from 'The Big Squeeze: Tough Times For The American Worker' written by Steven Greenhouse. Copyright 2008. Page 14, paragraph 2. "The squeeze on the American worker has been further exacerbated by corporate America's growing sway over politics and policy, making it harder for beleaguered workers to turn to government for help. When investigators unearthed serious child labor violations at a dozen Wal-Marts, officials in the Bush Labor Department signed a highly unusual secret agreement promising to give Wal-Mart fifteen days advance notice whenever inspectors planned to visit a Wal-Mart store to look for more violations. Wal-Mart officials had been major donors to the republican party." Your thoughts? Don: No I don't think they are being brainwashed. I think they are people that take a job in these tough times to feed their families and are heavily persuaded to follow the line or they are OUT. They are overworked, underpaid & are fired if they complain or try to organize. Zaza: Oh my... are you using that sharp wit again? Top priority, maybe not. But Wal-Mart has way too much juice in our government. And the Bush administration seems to have been very accommodating. As for the link, I went, I saw. I don't have time now, but I bookmarked it and WILL get back to it. Thanks :o) Reel Brothers: I've got no problem with that. And I will check into it. Don't try and pick a partisan fight with me. I'm not that narrow minded. It also doesn't excuse Bush's Labor Department. Chris H: Seriously? They can do that!? How does a private company gain access to a government agencies records? Unbelievable. @MM38: Child Labor laws in the United States deal with anyone under the age of 18. They are put there to ensure that kids still attending school are not over scheduled and are not allowed to do certain types of work such as driving a forklift, running machinery, etc. Think teenagers working during the summer or after school.

It is no surprise. Under the Bush regime workers rights were continually eroded. During this period WalMart has earned a reputation for abusing its workers. Locking maintenance workers in stores overnight, union busting. I am particularly bothered by WalMart's use of Government Welfare programs as part of their benefits package. In Alameda County Ca we have a quarter cent sales tax that funds health care for the poor. WalMart avoids giving their employees enough hours (at minimum wage) to qualify for their corporate high deductible health insurance. Rather as soon as they are hired, Walmart uses computer terminals wired directly to the county social services agency and enrolls their employees for Medi-Cal and the county funded health care programs as well as food stamps. Thus we have another great example of corporate welfare Edit, certainly most county programs allow on line registration.

Gail Originally Answered: Why did the Bush Administration stack the Justice Department with people trained at Pat Robertson's place?
in order to use the justice department to investigate democrats. they were trying to subvert the justice department and turn it into a political wing of the Republican party.

No. Didn't this country say decades ago that it had stopped doing business with companies that use and mistreat children in labor departments? It's horrible to learn that this type of thing is still going on today. If you've ever seen the videos of it, you problem would want to cry. That's just how sad it is. For some reason, Wal-Mart has a serious hold on this country. They stay in trouble, but always manages to stay on top.

I work for Wal-Mart at one of their food wharehouses, and I am thankful for it. I make a good wage and they are very strict on the rules that they have to follow so people dont find a reason to keep bashing on them. No matter where you are at, every single job has its downfalls and faults, Wal-Mart is no exception, but they try hard to stay compliant and keep everyone as happy as they can, which is far more then I have seen from previous employers of mine. I understand the stores and the wharehouses are a whole different environment, but its both Wal-Mart so I guess I am able to judge from what I see everyday. All in all, they have been good to me there, and there is a reason they have made a profit this year when most other companies havent. Just because Wal-Mart is a retail giant they will find themselves in situations where not everyone can agree on things, this happens when you employ almost 2 million people.

It's a well known fact that Wal-Mart has greased the palms in Washington very well, so no, this doesn't surprise me in the least. All the talk about Hillary Clinton and otherwise is just a diversion from addressing that again, the Bush administration was caught taking care of their own.

NO ONE, We have to look out for each other, soon the general unenlightened population will have had ENOUGH and Revolution will be at hand, as always....Power to the People! Psst, remember this song by the Isley Bros.? All babies together Every one a seed Half of us are satisfied, half of us in need Loves bountiful in us Tarnished by our greed When will there be a harvest for the world? When will there be I wanna know now baby Half a nation planted So concerned with gain As the seasons come and go Greater grows the pain Far to many Are feeling much strain When will there be a harvest for the world? So, when will there be I wanna know now baby Gather every man And gather every woman Celebrate your lives And give thanks to our children Gather every one Gather all together All together Overlooking none (2x) Hoping life gets better For the world So dress me up for battle When all I want is peace Those of us will pay the price I come home with the least And nation after nation Are turning into beasts When will there be a harvest for the world?

Tylor Originally Answered: What is the difference between Service department and Maintenance department?
Service dept could be for any services - on the phone, written, etc. Maintenance is purely to do with maintaining equipment, electrical etc. All organisations are pyramid shaped (triangle) - point at top - Top person (CEO) Manager, under him/her comes next important, like child supervisors, then front desk/cashier/receptionist - at the widest point - security guards. Swap them round if necessary. Hope this helps
