You can print out some computation worksheets from math.about.com. They have one minute multiplication drill sheets, as well as others.
Another suggestion is to play the math game 24. It gives you 4 single digit numbers and you have to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to make the four numbers compute to 24.
The last thing you can do is to solve math problems in everyday life using just your brain. Practice makes perfect.

people get lazy writing equations and the order of operations allows them to omit parenthesis. Here is an example 6+5x6=? if we ignore the order of operations we might add the 6 and 5 to get 11 then multiply by 6 to get 66 which is wrong. By the order of operations MDAS(my dead a.. Stinks) we need to Multiply then Divide then Add then Subtract since there is only add and multiply we multiply 5x6=30 then add+6=36. It could have been expressed ((5x6)+6), but in a longer equation the "(" can get confusing so we have the order of operations. Hope this helps you really need to understand this or it will kill your grades later. if you have excel or some other kind of spread sheet program you can create some examples and see what the sheet gives for an answer and then change the order of operations as you input the same functions into a hand held calculator and note the difference. GOOD LUCK You can do it!
Well there are tricks a few numbers and situations. Check this out.
Take a look at that, and just try to answers a few math questions here at yahoo. This will keep you sharp and help out.

A calculator, but I am not actually sure what you mean.
If you are algebraically fine, I don't see how an error can occur.
If you are getting numbers that are off, then there must be something wrong with your algebra.

I tell my students that if they solve a sudoku puzzle every day they will improve their basic math skills more than any other drill that I have found.

i would say practice. buy some sort of textbook and do a little each day after your normal homework. don't try to do it all at once though, because that won't work.

in the expresion "- x^2" the power has priority :
so the process is :
x ---> x^2 ----> - x^2
so, for x=6, we obtain :
6 ---> 6^2=36 --> y= -36
otherwise, we should write : y = (-x)^2 so to have the minus first (which is of no use here because of the square ! )
in the US/UK the acronym to remember the priority rules is PEMDAS :
P Parentheses first
E Exponents (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
MD Multiplication and Division (left-to-right)
AS Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

whereas in France, we have the US GPS !! ;-)
et voilà, mademoiselle !! ;-)
hope it' l help !!
