Is it OK to send a application for a FOID Card if you might have a Felony?

Is it OK to send a application for a FOID Card if you might have a Felony? Topic: Dismissed case show up on record
May 24, 2019 / By Heaven
Question: My brother wants to get his FOID card , he was charged with a Felony PCS in 2004 , went to court and ordered to drug classes , after completion of drug classes the judge said his case was dismissed. Now he is not sure if he has it on his record or not. The FOID application says he can be charged with a Felony if he fills out the application falsely. If he checks NO , he never been convicted of a felony , it comes up he has , will they charge him with a felony ? Like I said the case was dismissed so the avegage joe would consider his record clean. He called up some state offices and was told they cannot give him his record over the phone and that he has to go in person to get a rap sheet. That seems easy enough but he cannot take off of work to do that. So would they actually arrest him and charge him with a felony if he checks NO to being convicted of a felony which he is REALLY not sure about ? He looks at like it saves him the pay from taking off work ,gas , and the amount they charge for the rap sheet. When he can just send in $10.00 for a FOID card and if the felony still shows up for some reason he will only be out $10.00 and if it goes through he gets a FOID card. He is 29 in Chicago Illinois. Thanks

You can send the application, but if the person has been convicted of a felony punishable bya year or more in jail, forget it. You will have to get your record expunged, or get a pardon to get your gun rights restored.

If you go to the Post Office they will tell you exactly the type of packaging, what to write on the envelope and the different ways to send the item.

You may easily send it with UPS, Fedex or DHL. In fact it may arrive in one day if you choose express options. According to the UPS policy: The value of any package may not exceed the local currency equivalent of USD 50,000. In addition the value of any jewellery or watches, other than costume jewellery or costume watches, in a package shall not exceed the local currency equivalent of USD 500. If this is the case (the value is less than USD 500), then you don't have a problem. Otherwise, I believe, you have to take into account the customs regulations, etc. The wise thing would be to call the local branch of one of those companies and see what you can do.

well even if his case was dismissed he was still convicted of a felony. just tell him to save the stamp it hard enough for the real law abiding citizens in that state to get an FOID and ex-felon has no chance.

And you want to get a job with these people? Don't assume that if they give you a .pdf file to fill out, and they have a job available, they actually know what they're doing. It sounds as if they don't. (I just spent 8 hours - and I have about another 16 to go - getting data out of a .pdf document published by one of the largest package carriers in the world - because whoever created the .pdf files makes a dead amoeba look super intelligent. If they had created it properly the whole thing would have taken about 15 minutes of my time. Don't assume that a person using a computer is computer literate - the VAST majority of users don't even know that they don't have a clue.)

1. Open My computer 2. Click on Tools > Folder Options 3. Click on View Tab 4. Under Files and Folders, ensure that "Hide Extensions for Known file types" is unchecked. If it is checked, click on the box against it yo uncheck it. 5. Click on Apply and OK 6. Now go to the folder where you have ssaved your resume and click on it once to select it. 7. Press F2 (Or right click and select Rename). 8. Change the last three letters of the file name (The three letters after the dot ".") from "txt" to "doc" and press enter. 9. Now you have a doc file which requires Microsoft Word to open. Please note that word pad and Word are two different software. Wordpad comes with Windows and Word comes with Microsoft Office.
