Personal check lifetime? Topic: Correct check writing amounts
July 17, 2019 / By Gladys
Question: Hi, I wrote a personal check to an individual a while back (nearly 1 year) and I see that it still hasn't been cashed. Is there a "shelf" life on personal checks? Am I still responsible for this? Thanks!

Judy's answer is correct, most banks will not cash checks after 6 months. However, there is no law that checks are not valid after any set amount of time. This is purely an industry practice.

certified means the money is guaranteed and it's valid forever, unless specified by the conditions of the bank that sold the check. Check with them for details. Personal checks are simply promises of the person writing them to pay the amount on the check and are only as good as the person writing them. There is no guarantee that the money is actually in the account and they can easily be canceled by the issuer. Usually, they expire in a year, but this also depends on the bank/financial institution that holds the account the check was written on. Hope this info helps!

This Site Might Help You. RE: What is the difference between a certified check and a personal check, specially expiration dates? I have a Certified check on 26th July 2007, which I've not deposited yet. Is it valid to deposit it now? I mean, can I cash it?

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aNv3r Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment. You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

A certified check IS NOT like cash in your name. Stop payments can be placed on them, they are tracked, and fraud is done on them all the time; however, they are good for one year...generally unless stated otherwise on the front of the check. SO beings how it hasn't been a year yet go deposit it into your account, don't be surprised if a hold is placed on it, and horray you get your money! Also, depending on the amount in your account your bank may just allow you to cash it, but again it's just like any other "check" when requesting cash!

So i can rewrite and correct for you!!okay BTW when i say "blank" i need you to fill in details that i dont know. It was a "blank" summer morning. My mom, aunt, and uncle were going to get breakfast at "blank". I was near the door, outside of my house putting on my "blank" sneakers. Suddenly, I heard a loud slam at the door. I didn't realize my finger was slammed on the door! I stood still in pain and a little curious on how this happened to me. Then, I saw blood dripping. I let out a loud shriek and my mom was running to me. My mom looked very scared and worried. She laid me down on the closest sofa. I heard my parents talking. I felt something cutting through my finger. Suddenly, my vision was a blur and I could only faintly hear the sounds of my family probably talking about my finger which I thought was chopped of. I woke up on my bed. I looked at my fingers curious of what happened. I saw a band-aid wrapped around my ring finger on my "blank" hand.I was glad that my finger wasn't chopped off. I got cold ice from my mom. She said it would help heal the swelling to go down. After three weeks my finger healed, but it had a very ugly scar until this day. I am so grateful to have parents who love and care for me. Every day i always remember to count my blessing and i never forget my family. Now, I was only six when this happened and I still can't get the horrible memory out of my head. I can't imagine my life without my parenta but I know that my life would never ever be the same. Hope I helped! I think this probably enough now and more detailed.

Detail the smashed finger part. How did your finger get in the doorway if you were putting on your shoes? Were you standing or sitting? How did the door slam? Did someone close it or did the wind blow it?
