Selena Movie Questions? Topic: How to write a song in spanish
July 18, 2019 / By Gaynor
Question: Could someone please answer this? It's for my spanish class and I already have a 100 pt. lab write I have to write! Thank you millions, whoever could answer this! In what ways was Selena "American"? How can her Tejana/Chicana aspects also be considered "American"? From a Mexican viewpoint, what aspects of Selena's life & career are "Mexican," which are not? If possible, play the song "Technocumbia" from Selena's Greatest Hits (and also Amor Prohibido). In one of her last hit songs, Selena mixes hiphop, reggae, a brief heavy-metal lick, and Spanish. How does this mixture work witin the authentic definition (sound) of Tejano music? Is this the start of something new in U.S. pop music? What do you think she represents musically? Based on her musical and family background, how can we envision the identity construction of Selena: Nortena, Chicana, Latina, Americana, Tejana, others? Are those of us in this room more like Selena in that we belong to many different cultural groups witiout being defined by one of them, or do we see ourselves as definitely within one or a limited range of cultural groups? What was easier for Selena--gaining acceptance in Chincano/Mexican/Latino/ a culture or gaining acceptance in Anglo/North Amerian culture? To what degree did she succeeed in "crossing over"? Musically, Selena Gomez is like any other pop artist out there. Generic beats, predictable chorus, and generic lyrics. A lot of artists have generic lyrics. Nothing really is original anymore so I guess that's more like a general problem that everyone faces. Back on topic, I only like three songs from Selena Gomez. "Love You Like A Love Song", "It Comes Naturally" (if I remember correctly), and "Who Says." I agree that Selena Gomez started in the music business because of Disney's want to produce more income, but hopefully she'll get to a point where she experiments with different types of music. Hell, who knows? Maybe Selena Gomez is more better suited in heavy metal, dubstep, or even country. As for the acting, she's ok at worst and somewhat good at best.

A lot of people say that she doesn't write her own music. I was shocked when I first heard it. Haha anyway, she is a good singer, nothing special, her songs are catchy but die-down after a while. Anyway, she got very much more popular because of Jelena. And anyway, if HollyWood Records wanted to sign you, you would obviously say Yes, wouldn't you? So can you blame her? She pretty successful but she ain't no idol of mine. xx
