Ignore anybody that says you're too young; the younger you start, the more likely you are to succeed, truth be told. Before you can get a manager, you need to have some experience. Look for advertisements in newspapers; there's bound to be a lot in California, because of Hollywood being based in LA and all. I had a look around for you, but most of the ones I can find are closer to the Hollywood area. You WILL be able to find one; acting classes are all over the place. Try to find one that has a good reputation. It's best if it's based in a theatre, because that usually means that the acting group you're part of will often put on plays and such. You want to join a class that DOES do a lot of plays and stuff - you need to get out there as much as you can! Once you've got some experience under your belt, try and get a manager/agent. To get a legit agency, look on the screen actors guild, http://www.sag.org/ the SAG is an organisation that provides legitimate information to actors. Good luck :) Just do every piece of acting you can; it's the only way!!

Definitely take classes in: -Cold Reading/Auditioning -Improv -Scene study -Commercials 3. Get GREAT headshots Here's is a good place to start: http://bbs.backstage.com/eve/forums/a/tp... 4. Build Your Resume and Reel Doing Student films and Indie Films. Also do plays to build your acting experience. Sample Resume: http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww80/... The ONLY LEGIT online sites for getting work on your own: -ActorsAccess.com -LACasting.com -Nowcasting.com -NYCasting.com -NYCastings.com -Backstage.com 5. Get an Agent Look up LEGIT agencies here: http://www.agentassociation.com/ http://www.sag.org/content/find-agent To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading. You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways: -Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too. -Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc. -Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in DON’T -Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL! -Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL! -Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE! -Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print.

Get professional headshots, create an acting resume, and mail them to agencies around your area. Submit yourself to acting roles off acting websites such as talent hunter, Actors Access. Even try Craigslist, I got some gigs off of there. Once you get an agency they will also help you find jobs.

you might want to take a college course. one year of acting classes wont cut it, but a college education can put you in the right place.

It sounds like you're asking about a professional acting career - and professional acting is a business (not a lottery). Companies invest a lot of money in their productions and they trust that investment to trained and experienced professionals. So there are not a bunch of open auditions that anyone can go to. . For most professional work you have to be invited to audition, usually through a talent agent. And you can't just hire a talent agent. Legitimate agents are paid on commission, getting a percentage of what their clients make Since they are paid only if the actor books professional jobs, they are picky about who they take on as clients. And they can be picky because there are a lot more people wanting to be actors than there are roles. Agents are looking for clients who are "marketable" and who have demonstrated that they have the talent, training, experience and commitment to book professional jobs. If you're a minor, YOUR PARENTS will have to be very actively involved. Like I said - it's a business so it involves things like industry contracts, actor unions, legal restrictions/requirements for minors in the industry, professional head shots, acting resumes, marketing yourself, and networking to make connections in the industry. We're talking a big investment of time, effort and money with no guarantee of a return on that investment. Since you love acting - focus on that for now. Bloom where you are planed and look for opportunities to learn and grow as an actor without having to worry about making money at it. Some options you have: * Take acting classes. Voice and dance lessons can be helpful too. * Audition for what you can - school play or a community theater production or a church show. * Look into joining (or creating) a drama club and competing in the acting divisions of forensic speech/drama competitions. * Join other performing groups - choir, band, dance troupe or the like. * Read plays and scripts of all kinds and find characters you love and monologue you want to practice and perform for friends/family. * Contact local film school and ask how they find actors for student films and check those resources. * Check the website of your local film commission and see what opportunities are there. * Get together with friends and make your own videos for fun. * Read books about acting (both the craft of acting and the business end of things). While you do that, your parents can research the business end of things. Read websites about what is all involved in an acting career. (http://bizparentz.org/ is a good site for families in the industry. http://www.backstage.com/advice-for-acto... / has other articles as well. There are a lot of scams and rip offs out there so you and your parents need to educate yourselves to protect yourselves. Then you and your parents can discuss and see if it really makes sense for you to attempt a professional career at this point. You should understand that actors are not just "discovered" and there are a lot of rip offs that prey on families that think that can happen. It's more like starting a company and you are the product that has to be marketed and sold. So if you're looking for fame, attention, money or the like - that's not going to happen. But if you really love acting then like I said above - act. You don't have to have a professional career as a minor to have one as an adult. Good luck.

you get started by getting professional acting classes. until you have actually done some acting work, you don't have a resume. if you know how to get through an audition, you can look around you for local theater and student and independent film auditions. their open calls anyone can go on and their good for your resume. for any professional auditions, you will need to be in the right place and have an agent.
