In Islamic tradition, Sarah is the wife of Ibrahim, a major prophet. Abraham married Sarah as she showed uncompromising commitment to God, after the rest abandoned Abraham. After marriage Abraham traveled with Sarah to Ur, then later to Haran, Palestine and finally to Egypt. The hadith (sayings of the prophet Muhammad not included in the Koran) tell of an incident when Abraham called Sarah his sister, though Sarah was not biologically related to him. Muslim theologians explain that Abraham referred to Sarah as a sister in faith when he said "There are no believers on the surface of the earth except you [Sarah] and me." Thus Abraham neither lied, nor married his biological sister. After their marriage, Sarah and Abraham had no children. Sarah, knowing that Abraham desired a child, gave her handmaiden Hajar to Abraham in marriage. Sarah and Abraham received some guests one day who brought them two prophecies: the destruction of the people of Lot and that Sarah would bear a son, despite her and Abraham's advance age. The promise was fulfilled in due time, and Sarah bore Isaac. Muslims believe that Abraham sent Hagar and Ismail away because god had ordered him to do so, and not because of Sarah. Muslims see Abraham as someone who "devoted all his life calling others to the True religion: Islam." (http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/ibrahim.htm) They see Abraham as a fellow Muslim. Muslim theologians explain that Abraham referred to Sarah as a sister in faith when he said "There are no believers on the surface of the earth except you [Sarah] and me." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah#Islam ) Muslims see Abraham as a Muslim and Sara as his sister in faith. For Muslims, Sara is one of them, a Muslima.

This particular sentence is one of the most controversial in the Quran. In order to understand, one needs to know a little bit of the Arabic language. One also need to study the Quran as a whole to be able to grasp what God really meant in this sentence. Let's look at various translations for (4:34). Edip-Layth: The men are to support the women by what God has gifted them over one another and for what they spend of their money. The reformed women are devotees and protectors of privacy what God has protected. As for those women from whom you fear disloyalty, then you shall advise them, abandon them in the bedchamber, and separate them; if they obey you, then do not seek a way over them; God is High, Great. The Monotheist Group: The men are to support the women by what God has bestowed on them over one another and for what they spend of their money. The upright women are dutiful; keeping private the personal matters for what God keeps watch over. As for those women from whom you fear desertion, then you shall advise them, and abandon them in the bedchamber, and separate from them. If they respond to you, then do not seek a way over them; God is High, Great. In these two translations, you can see that instead of using the word "beat", the word "separate" is used instead. This should be the correct and best translation. The word "idribuhun" in almost all translations, you will see it translated as "scourge," or "beat" or "beat (lightly)". "Daraba" is the root word for "idriuhun". The verb "daraba" is a multiple-meaning verb akin to English ‘strike’ or ‘get.’ The Quran uses the same verb with various meanings, such as, to travel, to get out (3:156; 4:101; 38:44; 73:20; 2:273), to strike (2:60,73; 7:160; 8:12; 20:77; 24:31; 26:63; 37:93; 47:4), to beat (8:50), to beat or regret (47:27), to set up (43:58; 57:13), to give (examples) (14:24,45; 16:75,76,112; 18:32,45; 24:35; 30:28,58; 36:78; 39:27,29; 43:17; 59:21; 66:10,11), to take away, to ignore (43:5), to condemn (2:61), to seal, to draw over (18:11), to cover (24:31), and to explain (13:17). It is interesting that the scholars pick the meaning BEAT, among the many other alternatives, when the relationship between man and woman is involved, a relationship that is defined by the Quran with mutual love and care (30:21). In conclusion, God never said to beat your wives. Misogynistic and patriarchal men, deliberately or unknowingly, mistranslated these sentences to justify their views and a means to control women. Hope this clarify things. God knows best!

In Islam, order and discipline is very important. If the people of a country were to stop following laws, would there be peace? In order to maintain peace, sometimes force has to be used. Similarly at home, if all options fail, force is necessary.

dude, if you're writing it for your girlfriend, then come up with stuff you made yourself. otherwise you should just play her a love song that someone already came up with. it'll have more meaning if you do it yourself.
