Heat Sink Junction definition?

Heat Sink Junction definition? Topic: Definition case studies

Question: I'm studying heat sinks and am reading about thermal resistances between the junction, case, heat sink, and ambient air. I am curious as to what exactly is the junction and case. Is it what the heat sink is attached to? A picture would be great!

The junction is the heat producing surface within the semiconductor. The case is outside surface of the semiconductor package. The semiconductor manufacturer determines the resistance between junction and case. It is specified in the data sheet. Then there is resistance between the case and heat sink, and between heat sink to ambient air.

I assume that the timer is supposed to control Light B in a basic 2-way configuration and that the two 3-way switches are to control Light A. What exactly is the problem? Does something not work or are you looking for If 26/27 are your hot/neutral lines and 1/2 go directly to Light B then everything there looks like it's wired correctly and the timer/light should work. If the problem relates to the operation of Light A then you'll need to provide more information. My guess is that 8/9 go to Light A and 4/5/6 to the other 3-way switch though, if this is the case, what the purpose of the white wire (#4) is. *** EDIT *** If your diagram is correct then everything certainly looks like it's wired correctly. Do you have power between connections 29 and 30 (or between the wirenuts to which 29 and 30 connect) at all times regardless of the position of the two switches and/or the timer setting? Does Light B go out if you lift the wire from terminal 31 (or from the wirenut to which it connects)? If so, I'd bet that the timer is wired correctly and that it is malfunctioning. If you don't have a circuit tester, you can buy a very inexpensive one at Home Depot, etc. that has a neon bulb that lights up if 115 VAC is present between the points you touch the leads to. (uk)call in a professional....It sounds like you need to "spur" of an present socket. Is the socket radial or on a ring. If its on a hoop then that you would be able to only spur one socket of of this. If its a radial socket you then are not able to spur anything of of it. Seek advice the iee wiring regs. I think it is on the seventeenth edition. But when you do not know so much about the regs then particularly effectively name in a pro. Messing with electrics can rationale overloading of the circuits fires & ultimatly loss of life. It occurs every year. Paul t has givern a just right explanation but not ever the much less name in a professional!!!!!! Owen d summed it it up. It is ilegal to install additional sockets except you're certified. If there is an "accident" its handled below crimminal legislation not civil law & you go to prison.

It is not some garbage BS you fool yourself into believing that I am some unscientific idiot. Look at the 1st world nations. Their energy usage is leveling off. Their population is no longer increasing, but decreasing slightly. Their CO2 production is leveling off and decreasing. For every single one of these, you swallow whole the idea of continued exponential increase as you swallow whoel the idea of exponential temp increase. The keeling curve is barely above linear. If the models that predicted temps would ahve been linear instead of exponential, they would have been right. This need to assume exponential far out into the future, when facts tell a different story is why you are constantly spreading a message of fear that you believe. Look at how the energy usage in the first world is now leveling off and decreasing. THe technology that allows this to happen will become more available to the emerging economies MEANING that they will not increase to the levels we did. And when they peak (and they WILL peak) they too will start to level off. Fact is that to assume mankind is not going to peak at somewhere near 30TW, is nothing but a faulty assumption. The emerging economies are also going to stop their overpopulation, just like the US, Europe and every other first world country. You can stop being scare of an apocalyptic future. It is not going to happen, at least not by anything that we can predict. WW3, perhaps, overpopulation, climate change, CO2 production, ... not a chance. You have a mind. That mind should tell you that with all of the "scientific articles" that claim opposing things, you need to stop and think for yourself. Alarmist hate to admit that there are gaps in our knowledge. Pegminer's answer is full of nonsense IMO. He said it's substantially smaller than that from global warming. What is that supposed to mean? Presumably our climate scientist is suggesting that our emissions of CO2 have caused more warming than the heat generated by human activities. I can't imagine why a scientist would chose nonsensical language with poorly defined labels but I digress. I wonder if asphalt and concrete are added in that as well since they obviously have an effect for a long time. The heat that human's cause by our activity is rapidly released from the environment except for the examples of concrete, asphalt and other materials that have a longer term effect, and isn't anywhere near reaching harmful levels IMO. It probably isn't measurable outside the urban heat island effect. There is too much we don't know. We don't know what the temperature would have been without our CO2 emissions or our "activity". That makes it pretty hard to determine the exact effect of our activity or CO2 for that matter.
