What are the advantages of C++ over other programming languages? Topic: What to write in a personal statement
June 20, 2019 / By Donella
Question: I am writing my personal statement to apply for a computing degree in a university, and I mentioned that I am working on a cryptosystem incorporated into an application. I am making the system with C++, because I am familiar with it, but I have to give some reasons why I chose it over other programming languages. What are the advantages of C++?

If it's a personal statement, it would be honest to write what you, personally, think. What if someone asks you a question about what you wrote in it? If I was writing it, I'd point out its industrial strength and its unique scope-bound resource management, which makes it indespensable for any kind of time-critical or otherwise deterministic programming.

Even if the languages were to die out, proficiency with C++ will only be able to carryover into whatever language replaces them. C++ and Java are very similar, with some differences in syntax, and I pretty much taught myself C and Objective-C based on my knowledge of C++.

I've been working in C and C++ for the past 20 odd yrs, and there is certainly no sign of either dieing out in the near future. Even if they no longer stay as main stream languages there are plenty of legacy products that will need to be maintained and upgraded (I'm currently under contract updating a product originally written 18 yrs ago written in C)

One or more program language are similar so even C++ died you could easily learn java or other programming language similar to it. Before the language dies out, try to join freelancing sites that will allow you to work online at the comfort of your home. There are great demand in this skill you have. If you know how to make a website which I presume you know even simple website, you could use your skill selling websites. Its called website flipping. Basically there are great opportunities out there 1for your skills, so don't fret even the program dies. It will take years before C++ is completely gone. I think you should begin exploring other languages.

What you should learn next depends on how well you know programming. (Learning a programming language isn't learning programming itself.) If you know programming, and you want to code websites, you should know - at least - Javascript, PHP and SQL. If you've never studied programming, learn that first, before you learn languages that you won't have anything to do with. (You can't write programs with a language, you write programs with programming - you do it *IN* a language.) Start with http://www-old.oberon.ethz.ch/WirthPubl/AD.pdf Then a tutorial or 3 on object oriented programming (classes, mainly) would be in order. @James: Java isn't that important in web programming.

For internet programming, the most important languages are HTML, PHP, Javascript and Java (although some would argue that HTML is not a language). For general usage, some of the most popular languages are Java, C, C++, Perl, and Python.

He maybe looking to say that you just ought to gain knowledge of programming strategies and good judgment, as an alternative than languages. This quite is major, too. For example, being equipped to preserve a talk in 15 human languages does not imply you'll write an extraordinary paintings of literature in any of them; and a quite good written application is just like a quite good written booklet, in that it demands to have many elements that have compatibility in combination in non-noticeable however robust approaches.
