I want to start hairdressing. But don't know what to write to them in my letter? Topic: How to write and set out a letter
June 20, 2019 / By Dina
Question: My big sister has told me i should write out letters to send to lots of different hairdressers where I live, But I have no idea what to write to them! I'm not good with words as it is, let-alone putting them on paper to get me a job. I have no idea how to start the letter, or how to ask about getting an apprenticeship, or anything! What I'm looking for is an apprenticeship in a hairdresser, where I go to college one day a week and work the rest at the week salon. I'm female, just turned 17 yesterday =D and live in Guernsey, Channel Islands, between France and the Uk. Thanks...

They mostley look for uniquness and personality. Just be yourself in the essay, and let them know what sets you apart from the rest, at the same time let them know your drive to become a hairstylist! <333333

You don't do either. Your name will be at the bottom of the letter underneath "Yours sincerely" and your written signature. There is absolutely no need whatever to start the letter with saying what your name is as well. Whoever is reading it just wants to know what you have to say -- they'll get to your name in due course at the end. Neither do you start "I am writing". It's a letter -- obviously you are writing it. So start with Dear Sir, or Dear Mr. Smith (whatever name you are giving the manager of the hotel). Then put a line in bold or underlined as a subject. Perhaps "Exceptional customer service" or just "My visit from 1 -- 7 May". Then just get straight to the point. Perhaps "Your receptionist, Suzanne, is deserving of the highest praise!" or more mundanely: "During my stay between the above dates, I found I had lost my engagement ring" -- or just outline why you are grateful to the staff.

Don't start off with your name. Say something like " I was a guest in your hotel from...... to .... and am writing to let you know how much I enjoyed my stay with you. Go on to list the things you liked particularly e.g. friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the room, general amenities e.g. swimming pool, ease of check- in and check- out, location of the hotel, ease of getting public transport etc etc. Other things you might include - quality of food in the restaurant, room-service ...be imaginative. Imagine staying in a 5 star hotel. Look up one online e.g. Ritz in London that will give you ideas of things they provide. Type in your name and then sign above it.

Since they already know you were there, start with "I am writing to express my thanks for the (adjective) time we spent with you from (dates)". then explain why it was so worthy of your gratitude. Your name comes last.
