For the first one, ln x = 63, just rewrite the equation in exponential form: x = e^63 For the next one, remember that ln e^5x = 5x, and you're pretty much there. For the third one, note that it is quadratic in e^x, so you can use any of the techniques for solving quadratics. As a clue, suppose we say y = e^x, Then your problem becomes y^2 - 6y + 8 = 0 Solve that for y, then remember that y = e^x. You'll need to take the natural log of both sides to get your final answer. Hope that helps.

well... in all honesty... it's a democratic party problem... when was the last time a dem pres won in Appalachia? just because Hillary did better... I don't think she would win... they didn't really vote for Bill Clinton even... DOLE even carried the vast majority of Appalachia but you don't need Appalachia... especially if Obama can get some of the Midwest, where he's done well...
I'm glad when people actually base their arguments on historical analysis instead of wild conjecture. Appalachia has always been on the short end of American progress. When America does well, Appalachia barely squeaks by. When America does poorly, Appalachia goes hungry. Little economic opportunity, bad infrastructure, poor education. It's not a big secret that Appalachians are distrustful of outsiders, and particularly distrustful of people who look different and have foreign-sounding names. But as for the argument that Obama can't win among working class whites: what do you call Minnesota? And Oregon, which Obama looks set to take, has a LOWER per capita income than Ohio, and MORE manufacturing jobs. So chew on that for a moment. This isn't a class thing, or a race thing: it's a regional thing.
