Question: How hard is it to get into mainly U of A or ASU if I am an out of state student? I live in California but want to leave the state for college. I am currently heading into senior year with a GPA of 3.3 to 3.4. Freshman year really messed me up but other than that i made progress. Sophomore year i took Honors English. Junior year I took 3 AP classes and all 3 AP exams, i did not prepare for the English nor Environmental because my main focus was on U.S. History which i passed with a 4. I will be taking 3 more AP classes my senior year, Comparative Government, Statistics and Biology. I will also be in yearbook and other clubs i have been since sophomore year like CSF etc. My SAT Subjects Score was Lit: 440, Math 2: 450, and History: 660. My SAT test scores were Reading: 420, Math: 530, Reading: 530 and on the essay i got a 10 out of 12. For the ACT i got a 19 with 11 out of 12 on writing but i will retake both the SAT and ACT because i did not study for them due to my AP classes and exams coming up at the same time. I have also been involved in sports all 3 years, but for this last year i will be in yearbook to gain some time managing skills. My goal is to major in Business and also have access to internships. I was wondering if i have a good chance at being accepted into either ASU, U of A, University of Oregon, University of Texas at Austin, or University of Oklahoma.

For ASU at least you need to get a minimum ACT score of 25, or an SAT score of at least 1160 (math and critical reading only), or rank in the top 8 percent of your high school. This it the business school requirement for a Bachelor of Science. The Bachelor of Arts is a little more relaxed and you only have to get an ACT score of 22. I would definitely recommend you retake the the ACT and SAT, but other than that your GPA and extracurriculars look good, it should be a breeze to get in to ASU at least. There are 70,000 students that go there, so they really don't reject anyone lol. If you want to explore the WP Carey School of Business at ASU, go to http://wpcarey.asu.edu/undergraduate/col... I got a degree in Supply Chain Management there, best decision I ever made and companies heavily recruit from ASU too as the business school is top rated. If you're going for a degree in business, I would suggest you definitely look at ASU more closely.

Good activities might overcome the lackluster GPA, but it's a long shot unless your SAT or ACT scores are pretty good. Compare yourself to the middle half of their most recent freshman class: SAT - Critical Reading Middle 50%: 480-600 SAT - Math Middle 50%: 490-620 TPR Projected Range SAT Writing: 550-660 ACT Composite Middle 50%: 20-26 Average High School GPA: 3.30 <-----compare It is pretty expensive for out of state students, but it's also known as a school that accepts quite a few whose academic backgrounds are iffy. Like a lot of schools whose academic reputations aren't all that high, a hard-working student who exceeds the professors' requirements can get a good education there.

The average GPA of accepted students is a 3.3, so I would guess that unless you had a near-perfect SAT score, the 2.5 wouldn't work. With that kind of an acceptance rate, I have to think that they screen people out before they can even apply, unlike most schools. ASU is a pretty good school, so it isn't that they just take anybody.

You should go to their website or google ASU admissions requirements.. you should be able to find a schedule of due dates and requirements for applications etc. you should consider UA too.. although tucson is a little more ghetto than phoenix lol.
