Ahh! Then you must watch:
D.N Angel (This Anime is really funny, but then at the same time the love story is cute, because this boy he's about 14 years old, he falls in love with a girl, but then he didn't know he's true feelings until the every end.)
Kaze No Stigma (This one is REALLY funny! I loved it, but there's fighting scenes, and actions alot too)
Midori Days - (this is Alright, but its really cute, i loved the whole anime except the ending, that disappointed me a little bit But still good.)
Clanned - (This anime is really cute!! its about love and Friendships)
This Ugly Yes Wonderful World - (This one is alright, its about Love, until at the end, theres a little fighting.)
Shakugan No Shana - (This Anime is really funny, it doesn't seems at first, but you'll like it!)
Kanon (This anime, theres like a whole bunch of different love stories, so it might confuse you a little bit, its cute and funny at the same time.)
Save Me lollipop - (I really loved this anime, its about 2 boys trying to protect a girl, and those 2 guys fall in love with her and she feels the same way)
Azumanga Daioh - (This isn't really a "Love" story but its a good comedy)
Lucky Star (This isn't romance either but also a good comedy)
Hope you like them!

Shugo Chara!: (super hot guy here btw! :D)
The heroine of the story, Amu Hinamori, is a student at Seiyo Elementary. At first glance, her classmates refer to her as "cool and spicy" and rumors speculate about her personal life. However, her real personality is that of a very shy girl who has trouble showing her true personality. One night, Amu wishes for the courage to show her "would-be" self, and the next morning finds three brightly colored eggs—red, blue, and green—in her bed. At first, she is alarmed, but realizes she must have really wished to change. These eggs hatch into three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su. The Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams. Amu's life becomes much more complex as she struggles to deal with her "would-be" selves and the Seiyo Elementary's Guardians, who recruit Amu as the Joker to search for X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of people's dreams.
Clannad's story revolves around Tomoya Okazaki, a third year high school student who dislikes his life. Tomoya's mother (Atsuko) died when Tomoya was young, leaving his father (Naoyuki) to raise him. After the accident, Tomoya's father turned to alcohol and gambling, and held frequent fights with his son. One day, Naoyuki, again arguing with his son, slammed Tomoya against the wall, dislocating Tomoya's shoulder. Ever since then, his father has treated Tomoya nicely, but distantly, as if Tomoya and he were strangers rather than a family. This hurts Tomoya more than his previous relationship with his father, and the awkwardness of returning home leads Tomoya constantly to stay out all night. Additionally, the injury disables Tomoya from participating in his basketball club, and pushes him to distance himself from his school and other activities. Thus his delinquent life begins. Tomoya's good friend Youhei Sunohara, who got thrown out of the soccer club for a dispute, is also a delinquent and often hangs out in his dorm room with Tomoya doing nothing much. The story opens on Monday April 14, 2003 at the beginning of the school year, when Tomoya meets by chance Nagisa Furukawa, a soft-spoken girl one year older than him who is repeating her last year in high school due to being sick much of the previous year. Her goal is to join the drama club which she was unable to do due to her sickness, but they find that the drama club was disbanded after the few remaining members graduated. Since Tomoya has a lot of time to kill, he starts to help Nagisa in reforming the drama club. During this period, Tomoya meets and hangs out with several other girls who he gets to know well and help with their individual problems.
Honey and Clover:
Yūta Takemoto, Takumi Mayama and Shinobu Morita are three young men who live in the same apartment complex and are students at an art college in Tokyo. One day, they are introduced to Hagumi Hanamoto, the daughter of a cousin of Shūji Hanamoto, an art professor, who has come to live with Hanamoto and has become a first year art student at the art school that everyone attends. Takemoto and Morita both fall in love with Hagu, but Takemoto hides his feelings and tries to be a friend to Hagu while Morita expresses his love in ways that seem only to scare Hagu, such as calling her "Mousey" and constantly photographing her. Hagu herself, though initially timid and afraid of company, gradually warms up to the three.
*btw, what i do a lot of the time is go to www.myanimelist.net and check on the recommendations of the animes i like. It will give similar ideas and other animes you might like.*
Hope this helps :D
I am a Jehovahs wittness that has watched anime for over 20 years so I have to be careful and not watch anything that has devil stuff or over the top violence so I know what you mean.
Some that I like:
Hana yori dango ( Boys over flowers) very intense sort of love one sided for a long time but happy ending( high drama)
Densh otoko(Train man) I would watch the live action movie before reading the manga .
Lovely Complex ( one of my favorite, comedy and love)
Emma a victorian romance part one and two( This one is about a maid and a rich man who fall in love its a little slow and sometimes can drive you nuts because the pace is slow. Its starts out fast then goes slow. I would not watch it again but I am glad I finsihed it 24 episodes in all so its a short to medium size one)
Video Girl Ai( I had watched this before I became a christian but its only really the first two episodes that have some toe one the line stuff after that it is a GREAT Love story)
Robotech the macross saga. The love story triangle between Rick hunter, Lisa and Minmei. WOW I love this one.
Romance animes, then mecha animes are my favorite so I know what you mean. I hate when they leave you sort of flat.

here are numerous reasons why a once committed relationship would degenerate to one partner asking for a divorce. how to save your marriage https://tr.im/XufwJ
It could have been:
- an affair
- having been separated by a long distance for lengths of time
- behavioral issues or psychological problems of one spouse
- even unmanaged addictions.
Whatever of these problems may be what is seen on the surface, the bottom line is that usually, barring any abuse or psychological problems that are best handled by a professional, a couple find themselves in danger of divorce when there is a loss of:
- and intimacy
in the marital relationship.

~H2o ~footprints in the sand~ (its a very odd ending, which for the last 20 seconds is... i think... happy? it's kind of comfusing but a god watch!)
~Clannad (im suprised this isnt on your list! the second season is the one with marriage/pregancy though, but it's so amazing... seriously)
~Myself ; Yourself (has sort-of marriage thing at the end)
~Kodocha (no pregnancy/etc but like my favorite rom com ever!!!!--) (two REALLY LONG series, so it will keep you busy for a while XD)
~Sekirei (no pregancy... or anything... marriage talk, but that's it really. It's also my fave rom com - tied with Kodocha) (two seasons, and more to come >.< but only 12 episodes each series)

i was gonna recommend clannad lol but the drawings are..like u said, high school girls but drawn like kids XD
and what, u hate Fushigi Yuugi???? lol actually i hated it too (coz i love tamahome and i hate miaka so much!!!! grrrrr!!!!! But still, i think it's a good show and fairly enjoy it as much as i hate it haha)
Ayashino Ceres (same creator wit Fushigi Yuugi... i hate it too LOL but i stil watched it till the end..the ending is kinda sad..)
Plot Summary: Ceres was a tennyo (Celestial maiden) who came down from the heavens to bathe in a stream. She hung her hagoromo (robe) on a tree nearby, which was her key to returning to the heavens. But the robe was stolen and the man who had stolen it forced her to become his wife, thus producing a family full of human and tennyo blood mixed. Now, in modern day time, Aya Mikage is a descendent of Ceres, and has quite an ammount tennyo blood. On her 16th birthday, she and her twin brother, Aki, are thrown a party. At the "party", Aya's grandpa plans to kill her, for she has tennyo powers unlike the rest of the family, and can actually become Ceres herself and destroy the Mikage family. Aya, however, can switch back, so this transformation happens quite frequently. With protector Yuuhi by her side, it is up to Aya to control Ceres and keep her from coming back, but her relationship with an ex-worker for her evil grandpa may be a distraction.
Honey and Clover (i have the feeling u gonna hate this? XD but please try it XD One of the girl which the 2 guys like looks like a kid LOL)
Takemoto Yuuta, Mayama Takumi, and Morita Shinobu are college students who share the small apartment. Even though they live in poverty, the three of them are able to obtain pleasure through small things in life. The story follows these characters' life stories as poor college students, as well as their love lives when a short but talented 18 year old girl called Hanamoto Hagumi appears (yes, it's this girl, he looks like a 10 years old,,LOL)

Originally Answered: What are some key points to anime openings and endings?
I think that this is a great idea to plan how you're going to make your own anime opening (:
I think these are key points in anime openings that really grab my attention:
- A combination of action shots and slow-moving introductions of single characters or multiple characters. This way I can see a little bit of the fighting style of the characters (or just their styles in general by their body movements), the faces and dress styles of the characters, and get to know the surroundings.
- Backgrounds that don't neccesarily make sense and are just decorated, and backgrounds that coordinate with the story. Deadman Wonderland has a great example of these.
- Music that has quite a few different portions (upbeat and slower, no vocals at some points). They leave room for variation in different shots.
The biggest turn-off for me in anime openings are still-shots. Endings are alright since they are generally slower and aren't watched, but they really slow down the opening for me and make me want to skip over the opening.
Also, a variety of genres displayed in an opening persuades the watcher of the opening to watch the anime. A scene with a single hug, a tear, or a quick rescue (one character carrying another character in their arms, seemingly running from something, etc.), and then a bloody duel in an opening would really grab me and suck me in. I'll check out some songs for you, and edit them into my answer. Surprisingly, lots of Japanese songs are avaliable on iTunes or AmazonMP3.
EDIT: I think Returner is the perfect opening song for any dark anime. Also, anime sometimes have opening and ending songs by the same artist. Maybe you could use another song by Gackt? Here is what I suggest. (:
Mizerable - Gackt (which has a similar melody to the ending that your friend suggested)
Melody of the Wild Dance - SID
Natsukoi - SID
Let me know if you like/dislike them, I can get some more for you.
