How do you write a thesis for a character analysis paper of more than one character? Topic: college thesis
June 24, 2019 / By Catherine
Question: I have to write a paper on my final and it requires me to analyze two or more characters, storytellers, or authors that we have read this year. But i need to know how do you write a thesis for a paper where you have to analyze two or more characters? Do the characters have to have a similarity expressed to deploy a thesis statement containing both characters in my paper? If anyone has any college degree or is a teacher for english, i would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Personally I would pick characters that have similar traits so the thesis would apply to all the characters... After that you could make a separate paragraph for each ;)

Start with an outline - into, main points and conclusion. With only 250 words one or two main points is enough. Your main points tell you what your thesis statement is. For example, if you are writing about why cats make good pets, your main points could be "because they are easy to take care of" and "because they are friendly" and your thesis would be "Cats make good pets because they are easy to take care of and friendly." Your thesis statement will be your last or second to last sentence in your introductory paragraph. For a character analysis your main points will be the things that stand out most to you about the character - traits, actions, etc.

I have to write a short one on Aronnax from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, based solely on his actions in the Vanished Continent chapter.

A thesis is a statement that will give your whole paper direction and focus. It should be specific. I'm not familiar with your book or the character of Jim Brogan, but this would be an example of a thesis relating to a character: A fascinating character, Jim is a devious, manipulative, and charismatic young man. The thesis is normally the last sentence of your introductory paragraph, so you would begin with an audience hook and move into stating your thesis. Then the rest of your essay will show how Jim is devious (paragraph 2), manipulative (paragraph 3), and charismatic (paragraph 4) before you conclude your essay (paragraph 5). I'm pretty much handing you a formula for a five-paragraph essay, which I hope will be helpful to you.

Check out Spark Notes for general information, including characters: http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/owenmeany/... This site discusses how to analyze characters: http://www.enotes.com/topics/how-write-c... A thesis statement sets the direction for your entire paper. Most people start with a thesis statement and then use the rest of the essay to prove the statement with examples and arguments. However, I often write various paragraphs and then figure out a thesis to cover all of my "insights." I know that is not the proper way to do it, but it has always worked for me. I either write on note cards and then sort them into some kind of order, or else start typing on word processor and then cut and paste to rearrange my ideas.

I read the book and the watched the movie in 11th grade american literature class. Was an alright movie, but I would say go with number 11, seeing you are writing an essay, and you can explain this a lot through the essay. 11. "Everything immoral that was done by Gatsby and Fitzgerald was to win over the woman they loved." We can see that Gatsby holds parties or what not, just to find the true love of his life. I have not done researched on the author, but this could also resemble in his life. How he had a lost love out there and tried to search for the 'right one'. You can put your points/beliefs into this essay/thesis, because the whole novel was about 'love' you can say. So this seems pretty easy.
