If the cover letter is for a prospective employer, you are not JUST writing an email cover. Chances are good that after an initial filtering of emails, the remaining will be deemed worthy of being printed out for further review. You definitely want them to be able to contact you, right? Anything in this type of email should reflect proper hard copy.

It should be brief Your mother should introduce herself as your mother and give a brief history of your acting experience and training - that you've been acting for 4 years, you've appeared in numerous school productions, that you are currently in rehearsals for Seussical, that you have also studied dance and voice (for example), that you have studied at xx school or with xx acting coach. And if you were referred to the agent by somoene, then mention that you were referred by Mr or Mrs X who is a casting director/producer/actor/director/acting coach your child has worked with Your mother should also mention that she is fully supportive of your career and willing to invest the time, energy and money needed to advance your career

I always mail my resume in a matching envelope, mostly because it appears more professional and I don't want to fold the resume. I've never heard that it was an absolute must or anything though. But, I do know that some employers scan resumes to upload them into a central system and if the resume has folds, it sometimes makes it harder to scan or leaves marks. I also know this for a fact from doing an internship in a human resources department and having to scan resumes. So even if you don't use a matching envelope, at least try to use an envelope that is big enough so you won't have to fold its contents.

The employer will not care about the color of the envelope. They will only be concerned with the content of your resume. Don't worry about the hand written envelope. A printed envelope looks much more professional. If the business that you are sending your resume to has posted a help wanted ad, they will be looking for resumes arriving in the mail. They will not mistake it for junk mail. As an employer, I have always thrown the envelopes away. I don't care what kind of paper the resume was printed on. I only look at content. Also, it is a good idea to have your resume limited to one page only. Make sure everything is spelled correctly and that your grammar is correct. Good Luck!

You asked a really good question, since we learned in school that resume paper should be like peach so they can pin point you faster, but we were never told us about the envelope. Most the envelope we buy are white. The only color I would think is sore like beach or light pink, but I don't kow about the envelope, I hope you can find more help, but I don't think anything wrong with sending the same color. I think when they receive it the resume, all of them are open and have them all together and they probably tossed out the envelope. In this case it would not make any difference. Ga
