I'm canadian and work in the film industry (gaffer). If you're hired by a US company then they will help you with the visas that you need. The Directors Guild of America and IA would have info as well. But basicly it's like getting any other visa it comes down to who you are and where you're from. Criminal record, etc. But if you got a visa to go to film school in the states then you shouldn't have to worry about things like that. Once you finish school you are subject to the terms of your student or tourist visa and should you overstay you will find it much harder to get another visa. The INS website would also be a useful reasource.

As long as you work hard, it's not really too terribly horrible. Many women are successful in the directing field, a woman won the best director award at the Academy Awards this year, the director of Hurt Locker. Many of the women who are successful, though, do mostly independent films in film festivals or direct theater. If you get a minor in education, you could even go on the be a theater teacher or maybe even a professor if you can't seem to make it as a big film director.

to tell you the certainty, usa desires directors. And ordinarily directors from South usa, Europe, and different countries. I additionally choose to alter right into a action picture director, and basically such as you, I even have desires and passions for action picture and am purely 15. whilst learning for many action picture faculties, many of the faculties are no longer so well-known like NYU, yet many people who've this pastime pass to those faculties basically to make movies and deliver messages via those movies. In usa, there are maximum of folk who're prepared to do something to do their jobs and fulfill their desires. and of course, you will make it. I wish you perfect of success!

What is left of the studio systems would only use you as an extra, until you were at least 18, and then throw the additional hurdle of having to join a union at you. Since you can edit film, you might check with Craigslist and start making a list of any small film production company that specialies in niche productions, with luck there may be one wherever you live. For example, I'm in Wyoming, which has the lowest population of any of the States, but there is a small film company here in town which makes wild life documentary films and a few local commercials; there are also four or five other niche film production companies in the Stare, and at least three television stations which make local commercials. If there is a production company that makes local commercials or niche film products where you live, you might legally be able to work for them when you turn 16, and in some cases they may let you hang around and/or pay you under the table, if you make a favorable impression on someone and you probably would since it is fairly rare to find someone of your age who isn't afraid of hard work. Good luck.

no longer rather, many directors weren't born in l. a., whether i might propose going to action picture college in l. a.. Like USC's Cinematic Arts branch. they're somewhat in contact in the action picture industry as we talk..Plus many alumni become effective directors, manufacturers, actors and so on. lots of people who're in contact in the action picture industry come to USC each and all of the time to supply speeches and what no longer. Steven Spielberg many times speaks at USC.
