How do I write a formal letter requesting to complete my Community Service hours at my old elementary school? Topic: How to write a formal letter to your school

Question: I have wanted from Grade 7 to, when I am able to, to complete and even exceed my Community Service Hours at my old elementary school. Now I'm in Grade 9, and I asked the head secretary what we needed to volunteer. She said we would need to write a letter to the vice-principal stating stuff like, what Grade/Department I'd like to volunteer for, what I'd be willing to od, what hours I'm available, and contact info. I know this has to be a formal letter, obviously, but what's the format? How do I write it? Thanks!

Dear VP, My name is (inlovewithdavidarchuleta) and I would like to volunteer my assistance to the 7th grade class, if assistance is needed. (Then list your qualifications and how you can help. List your capabilities. I guess if you're good with math or science then indicate that.) I am available to work after school from the hours of (your available time) Please contact me if you are interested at (555) 555-5555. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your time. Sincerely, Your name. That's it! There's your formal letter.

Hospitals often have volunteer opportunities for students. Duties might include filing paperwork, inventorying medical supplies, assisting with reception, transporting patients in wheelchairs, delivering flowers or food to patients, or assisting doctors, nurses or clerical staff with various tasks. I've never heard of anyone volunteering in a courthouse. That doesn't mean it's not possible, I just don't know what jobs would be available for volunteers. You'd have to call and ask. Some other ideas for volunteer work: -- Soup kitchen -- Homeless shelter -- Nursing home -- Animal shelter -- Habitat for Humanity -- Tutoring -- Boys and Girls Club -- Assistant coaching a youth sports team -- Relay for Life -- Park cleanup You could also organize and collect items for a food drive, toy drive, school supply drive, care packages to send to troops overseas, or supplies for a women's shelter such as toothpaste, shampoo, makeup, etc. If you're interested in history, you could contact your local historical society and see if they have any projects they need help with, such as cleaning up an old cemetery or painting a historical building. You should check with your school if they will accept jobs like mowing lawns and yard work. I know our high school doesn't accept that sort of thing (unless it's through an official organization) because too many people would "cheat" and have their parents sign off on any old thing. Besides, that sort of thing won't be too impressive to colleges.

Absolutely. If there is a particular area that you would be interested in, go chat up the receptionist. They can get you where you need to go if they like you.

Camilla Originally Answered: What kind of trouble can I get in if I sign off my own community service hours?
Well, of course the upright answer is to do the time like you agreed to. Remember that this is, essentially, a form of probation where you were allowed to do the CS in lieu of either a fine or jail time. Often the court has a clerk who will randomly review the signoffs of minor offenses but for larger ones like DWI's or Linsey Lohan types, they are almost always confirmed. If you are discovered to have forged or fraudlently presented fake compliance papers you not only have a whole sh*tload of new charges possible but likely you will be presented with the original fine/jail time since you did not complete your side of the deal. Bottom line.. 14 hours is not much.. like going to work for two days... do the time and get it behind you. .

Is there a section that states you are signing under penalty of perjury? If so, you can face charges of perjury, fraud, contempt of court. You had better get your 14 more hours of community service done before it's due.
