She should apply to the local register office - Standesamt - for the area where she was born. There are agencies that will do that for you and this can be useful if she doesn't speak German (it is unlikely the Standesamt staff will understand a letter written in English - somebody there might, but by no means are all Germans fluent in English. I know the country fairly well as my boyfriend is German and in my experience, while most Germans will be able to hold a very simple conversation in English as it is a compulsory school subject, a lot less than half will be able to go beyond that. I have a good friend who is English but has lived there for 30 years teaching English in German schools so I have it on good authority they get to a reasonably high standard!) One of these, and this one IS based in Germany, is http://www.germany-service.com/birth_cer... and she might feel it is worth the expense to use them. Or else she can try it herself using the instructions at http://www.ehow.com/how_5534985_obtain-g... . That page provides a sample letter: "Ich bitte um Ausstellung einer internationalen Geburtsurkunde für [your first/middle/last name], geboren am [your birthdate] in [your birthplace]. Eltern [your father's name] und [your mother's maiden name]." The translation of this is "I request the issue of an international birth certificate for [your first/middle/last name], born on [birthdate] in [birthplace], parents [father's name] and [mother's name]." Note I have used "geboren" where the web page uses "geb" - "geb." is just a common abbreviation for the full word. One useful tip there is to write the name of the month in full rather than using something like 12/1/66, as Europeans write day/month/year, whilst Americans write month/day/year. The months in German are January = Januar February = Februar March = März April = April May = Mai June = Juni July = Juli August = August September = September October = Oktober November = November December = Dezember (English is a Germanic language that separated from German just over 1000 years ago so it's not surprising there are some similarities!) All that remains is to find the address of the Standesamt.

Look up "Berndt Heinrich" on a search engine. He's done loads of this research, and his books and articles are wonderful! Odin (Wotan) is the Raven God in German/Saxon/Norse myth. He has two ravens, Hugin and Munin, and they fly all over the world each day, and return at night to tell him what they've seen. He is also a god of wolves, and leader of the Wild Hunt during the Winter Solstice. You might want to look him up on the 'net, too!

Argentina are England greatest footballing Rival - Not Germany. Germany are the closest rival on a par with England in footballing terms to locality. France, Spain & Italy are also similar but Germany are our rivals because of the war yes. But also the rivalry stems deeper because of the Battle Of Britain the song 10 Germans bomber in the air.

It would be wrong to say that Germany doesn't think about England, they do see us as rivals, but not arch rivals, and I think their sense of rivalry with England would have been magnified if they, instead of England, had lost those semi-final matches in 1990 and 1996. Much of the problem relating to the war is a hangover from the propaganda of two world wars, where the stereotypical German is a mullet wearing sociopathic megalomaniac with a superiority complex, with many parallels to the archetypal English villain in American films. (Jeremy Irons with a 1980's hair cut) The majority of the Germans have moved on from this, and so should everyone else.
