Topic: Correct my term paper
June 24, 2019 / By Sondra Question:
I'm abou to make a deviantart account and start sketching but what I originally thought sketches were = quick rough drafts with correct proportions but sometimes I see awesome work that looks like pro drawings but people call them sketches. What is the difference?

Here's what sketch means in the online dictionary: a simply or hastily executed drawing or painting, especially a preliminary one, giving the essential features without the details.
And here's what drawing is: 2.a graphic representation by lines of an object or idea, as with a pencil; a delineation of form without reference to color.
3.a sketch, plan, or design, especially one made with pen, pencil, or crayon.
Basically, a sketch is a quick drawing that gets down the shapes, basic features, pose, background, and may include tone and emotion. This is what some people do to get ideas down onto paper quickly before they forget them. They may be flushed out later or left alone.
A drawing is what happens after the sketch. It's flushed out- more detail, lines are corrected, poses can be changed, mood and tone are messed with to convey the message more strongly, sometimes colour is added. It's a better version of a sketch.
I have seen very talented people call their work a sketch. It could be that it looks more like a sketch compared to their more finished works because they have been doing art for a long time, or because the sketch was done in a matter of minutes, as sketches are usually done.
So, in layman's terms, a sketch is rough, quick and basic. A drawing is clean, crisp, refined and detailed, and it's obvious time was put into it.
Art is my favorite subject!! Sketches are done more faster than drawings. And drawings are usually colored and sketches are sometimes shaded in with pencil.
Hope this helps :)
in sketching, u are drawing the basics like ex: a circle with lines to see where u are going to draw a nose etc in drawing: u use ur imagination and draw directly without foundation/sketching

Parishioner 2: Aww, c'mon...
Priest: What? When Lord Voldemort spoketh down from Mt. Sinai...
Parishioner 1: But Father, wasn't that Moses?
Priest: Silence!!! When he spoketh down, and he say unto thee, "Answer me these questions three!" I will strike down with great vengeance!
Parishioner 2: What is that, Pulp Fiction?
Priest: OF COURSE IT'S FICTION!!! What kind of church do you think I'm running, here, anyway!?
Parishioner 1: Ohhh! What's all this then? I'm outa here before the lightning strikes...
Parishioner 2: I'm with you, let's go before all hell breaks loose!
Priest: Like God cares!! And I say unto thee! How many dead babies does it take to change a light bulb?
Parishioners (together) That's enough!!
**Ground and lights start shaking, Parishioners do cross signs on their chests and start towards the door**
Priest: As many as it takes to make a pile big enough to climb on to reach the bulb!!! HAA HA ha hah heh... Where the dickens do you think you're going?
**Lightning strikes, Parishioners scream, exit through huge wooden door.**
Priest: (muttering to self, pouring Scotch he just pulled out of his desk drawer) No sense of humor, those buggers...
