I need to give my landlord a 60 day notice that we will not be renewing our lease in June? Topic: How to write a letter ending lease

Question: I've found several webpages telling you how to write this out, but I'm not good at these things and need a physical TEMPLATE or example of a letter - and those, I can't find. I just need to give my landlord notice that we won't be renewing our lease in June (our lease ends June 15th). Also, a lot of these instructions I'm finding say to send it certified mail and request a signed copy back stating that they received it, but can't I just walk it down there myself, hand it to them and have them give me a copy back right then and there? This is probably more confusing to me than it should be, but this is my first time doing this, so I want to do it right.

You had to give your 30 days notice at the expiration of your lease on September 1. Because you didnt give notice when your lease expired, you have an automatic 2 month renewal beginning September 1 and that would mean you had to give notice September 1 and vacate September 30.

Why cant you give the letter to the management company? They dont have to sign the letter. Just have them stamp the date of receiving your letter and the copy you will make of your letter. When they have stamped or signed receipt of it, you keep the copy. It is not rocket science. Just tell them you are notifying them you will vacate the apartment on May 31st. Give your forward address for the return of the deposit. Tell them you want a walk-through and checklist done and get the date. Dont forget to take photos of the apartment after you clean it. And find out what your state law says about deposits.

Send your notice in writing. If your lease is paid up until the end then they cannot withhold your deposit for that reason.
