Price: Second one is better because it has 4x the contrast and $10 less. Quality: Again, first one has much better contrast level. Note: the second one also has DVI cable port, which is useful Conclusion: choose the second one

Sounds like a cable issue to me, you could try unplugging the cable and then back in, ensuring it's secure. Avoid leaving your computer on it's side; this could be bad for airflow and hard disk drives.

It really sounds like you need a new cable. It sounds like a portion of the wiring inside the cable has broken or weakened, so that only a portion of the current is getting through. When you move it over on it's side, the broken ends reconnect and you get a signal. Replace the cable first and then take it to a repair shop if that doesn't work.

It's possible your have a faulty DVI output on your graphics card. Turn your computer vertical again, and wiggle the cord to see if the signal cuts in and out.

Yeah i agree with jimmy C, if you would have to choose between the 2. But it's always best to look at expert and user reviews before buying. Samsung is a good brand, so when you have little to base your decision on then getting a Samsung is not a bad idea. Personally i have a 24" Samsung syncmaster T240 (24") and i love it. Also consider your needs before choosing. For instance the mentioned monitors don't have hdmi in. This may make it in some occasions necessary to buy adapters or extra cables and it would be of course better to in that case get a bit more expensive monitor that does have hdmi in instead of paying extra for those adapters and cables. Same for speakers. Personally i like seperate speakers, but if you have little space and still need to buy speakers and/or don't want to waste to much money on them you might consider a monitor with inbuilt speakers. Below monitor is 180 dollar but has speakers, hdmi in and is almost 24" : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... expert reviews: http://www.futurelooks.com/asus-vh242h-2... (4 pages) http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,234... user reviews: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052 Im not saying above monitor is a perfect buy though, im just making a suggestion on what to look for, but that also depends mainly of your personal situation. Above monitor has for instance a 16:9 ratio (instead of 16:10, so it's a bit wider/lower then usual) which is good for movies and console-games, but maybe you don't care about that.

please do your research before you get one. neither are for beginners and they require very large enclosures. there are too many unwanted monitor lizards because people get them and then get rid of them when they're to much for them to care for. but if you insist on getting one go with the savanna. niles are nearly impossible to tame

Savannah. Though both get very large and are not easy to care for, niles usually have nasty temperaments and will be more likely to bite. http://www.petreptiles.com/Monitor/monit... http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Lizard,%20Mo...
